Resources (Stuff I Like)

I’ve found some great resources to help deal with losing Neil and grow in my relationship with God. Here are some of my favorite books, songs and organizations so far:

Wisdom of the Wounded is a website where you’ll find knowledge and skills to deal with crisis and loss, whether your own or a friend’s, all based on real stories of pain and hope.

Proverbs 31 Ministries is a non-profit Christian ministry that supports women in their daily lives and their relationships with God by daily devotions, Bible studies, daily podcasts, resources, and conferences. My sister-in law introduced me to the site,  and  I subscribe to the daily devotion, reading it each day at lunchtime.

Jesus Calling: Enjoying Peace in His Presence, by Sarah Young, is a book of daily devotions written as messages from God, with themes like gratitude, trust, joy, rest and prayer. It was given to me a few years by my Mom, and I have read it almost every day since, usually before I even leave the house in the morning. It is available here at www.amazon.com

Healing after Loss: Daily Meditations for Working through Grief, by Martha Whitmore Hickman, is a book of daily reflections given to me by dear friends who also suffered a great loss. The book is an inspiration, and so are these friends, whose faith in God gives them the courage to accept His will, even when it is so very hard to do. Its available here at www.amazon.com

Music is a great way to pray, reflect and energize. Here are some of my favorite songs; just click on the titles to listen.

See you Again, by Carrie Underwood:
Sometimes I feel my heart is breaking, but I hold on and I stay strong, because I know I will see you again. This is not where it ends. I will carry you with me till I see you again.

Even If, by Mercy Me:
I know You’re able and I know You can, save through the fire with Your mighty hand, but even if You don’t, my hope is You alone.

Lift Your Head Weary Sinner, by Crowder (thanks, Florence, for introducing me to this one!):
If you’re lost and wandering, come stumbling in like a prodigal child. See the walls start crumbling ; let the gates of glory open wide.

And for an energizing boost try either of these videos:
Mercy Me- Grace Got You

….and Smile-Sidewalk Prophets
